OrganisingWeddings with ShortTimescales

Many couples spend years planning their wedding day, deliberating for months over the finest details, yet for others that’s simply not practical, or even desirable.

Many Brides and Grooms To-Be ask us the question

"Can you really organise a wedding in a few months?"

The answer is of course we can! And we regularly do!

We have organised weddings with as little as  2 week timescales. You may encounter negativity from family or suppliers, but you won't be the first or last bride to fast-track the happy day and with less time to play with, couples have to learn to bite the bullet and trust their gut instincts, making decisions on the spot rather than mulling decisions over.

If you have less than six months to plan, the chances are that most venues in your chosen location will already be booked up for Saturdays, but if you consider having the wedding on a Friday, Sunday or even a mid week day, the options will be considerably broadened, and the scope to negotiate and gain a discount is far greater (especially for a mid week day when demand is much lower).

If you do have one particular venue in mind, don't assume it will be booked up as you may be lucky. As wedding planners we like to keep on top of desired venues, with regular communication, this ensures that if any cancellations crop up for your desired date that we are first in line to be offered them.

If couples are still struggling we encourage them to think outside the (traditional wedding venue) box, as the more unusual your venue, the less likely it will be booked. Furthermore, just because a venue has never hosted a wedding before doesn't mean they won't consider it now; you can apply for a "special one-day licence" for almost anywhere.

After the venue, the next wedding-day essential is the Brides outfit. Be prepared to be sternly told off and even laughed out of the Bridal store when you inform staff of your short timescale - but don't panic!
Some stores won't be able to help, however others certainly will. It just takes a little more shopping around. You may be lucky enough to find a dress off-the-peg that only needs minor alterations, or you might have to pay over the odds for a speedy delivery.

When it comes to other suppliers, you may find the wedding florist, wedding band or wedding cake designer you would like isn't available. If we know who the supplier you are interested in, from our experience we can give you a shortlist of others with work iof of a similar style.

When the date is set in stone, we advise the Bride and Groom to tell their guests as soon as possible - communication is even more vital with tight timescales, especially if guests are coming from abroad.

A closing thought from myself......
Sometimes the best weddings are organised with tight timescales. It forces planning and organisation skills to go into overdrive as the adrenaline kicks in. Often more deliberation can cause stress and the aim is for the Bride and Groom to enjoy the build up to their big day..however long or short that is!
