Castle Hotel Wedding

Maja Nedic and Steven Stirrat

Glenskirlie Castle

26th September 2010

Sunday 26th September 2010 saw the wedding of Maja Nedic and Steven Stirrat at Glenskirlie Castle, Stirlingshire.

The sun was shining and not only in the sky, but down on Maja as we saw her fairytale dream come to life!

Never have we coordinated a wedding with so many nationalites, the Bride being Serbian, the Groom Scottish, and guests from Bosnia, Germany, England and Italy. This made the speeches tricky!!

The Bride looked like a Princess with a sparkling white full skirted strapless gown, its bodice encrusted with swarovski crystals. The groom and all the male guests wore Flower of Scotland kilts, a lovely touch, and this theme carried on through to the Brides and Bridesmaids who carried bouquets of cala lilies interspersed with thistles that were bound with Flower of Scotland ribbon.

Another lovely touch, a Serbian wedding tradition, was for each guest to be given a buttonhole on entering the ceremony and for them to wear it all day. The idea is somewhat like a wristband you may get at a music festival, so others know you are part of the wedding party! Maja made these herself, again filtering through the cala lily and tartan theme.

The ceremony conducted by Humanist Peter MacDonald saw Steven and his Best Man enter to ZZ Top….Give me all Your Loving! Maja then entered with her Bridesmaids, to Highland Cathedral by the Piper.
The couples ceremony included the ritual of handfasting which was new and very different for many of the foreign guests.

The drinks reception followed the ceremony with John Baikie of Captiv8 ushering the couple around the beautiful venue to get a vast selection of different photographs.

The meal then swiftly commenced at 6pm with guests taking their seats around large round tables complete with tall candelabra, whisky miniature favours and stunning floral decorations. Guests were treated to a starter of smoked salmon, followed by scotch broth, pork with apple sauce, then finally a trio of desserts saw all the guests very full! But still room for the delicious dark chocolate wedding cake, which was carefully decorated by myself!

“I Finally Found Someone” by Bryan Adams and Barbara Streisand was Maja and Stevens first dance song and their wasn’t a dry eye in the house! They glided along the dancefloor …those lessons paid off! The guest didn’t leave the dancefloor due to the fantastic sounds from the Red Sugar wedding band. Christine has amazing vocals!

At midnight the Bride and Groom retired to their honeymoon suite…and enroute set off a paper lantern each into the twinkling sky ..a beautiful end to a unforgettable day!
